I've seen a more convincingly done specimen of a flying tank in 2007 on the Nizhny Tagil show laugh.gif

Rocky Davis
I have a photo that I want to post, but (for some reason) I am not allowed to upload the picture.

Will somebody (anybody) that is able to post photos here email me and I'll send it to you so that you can post it for me?

Thanks in advance.

I'll repost this one:

Rocky, try http://imageshack.us - you can post pictures free even if not registered (it's dead simple, they'll even provide ready-to-cut-and-paste code lines for posting after uploading). Registering lets you erase pictures from your account after posting, too. I've been using it for years.

There I was, smack in the middle of Funnyland, FLA, USA, having the best vacation for years, having just finished off the The Simpsons RideTM for the third time in the same number of hours. And suddenly, what appears before my very eyes? Yes, it must, it must, it really must be the The Grandmother of ShturmGavinTM blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

Happily enough for the average tanknetter, this photo is also proof that the ShturmGavinTM was poised to be a flawed concept even before the GavinTM was born.

Those yellow stripes remind me of my dad's tank retriever in Vietnam. He painted yellow and black stripes like that across the back of the turret. When I saw a picture of it as a kid and asked why, he replied that it was tongue in cheek, he felt that it was kind of ridiculous that it was camouflaged not only because it felt more like a piece of construction machinery than an implement of war but because any enemy that they'd run into would hear them coming a mile away and about the only time they left base was to go to pull someone out of a ditch or from over the side of a bridge and the scene was pretty well secured. He wasn't exactly planning on sneaking up on anybody in a tank retriever. tongue.gif

Nah, they won't be too worried--that thing's way too fast and will overshoot.

There are some good pictures of strangely modified military vehicles on the Steel Soldiers forum. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?nam...pic&t=27268
