Well done. The video about the Leopard at speed appears to be about the LeClerc, however. Regardless, there are some very neat vids in there! smile.gif

Argie Army TAM video. About 8 minutes, captured from the TV screen, so poor quality, just donīt maximize to fit screen, watch it on the small preview mode for better rendering. Spanish spoken. Not very fast server, halts every 20 seconds to buffer....but all taken into account, worth watching.

My video of the interior of the Merkava 1 in the Beit Haosef museum in Tel Aviv. It is only 35 seconds and not very high quality, but you get the impression, I think.

Just remember, before you compare turret traverse speed of this vid to an other: This REALLY isn't T-72's max traverse speed...

thanks, the TAM reminds me of a wannabe Merk, it seems the design has lost the rear door of the Marder, is that true? It would seem that a small hatch back there would be advantagous, but perhaps they had to strenghten the hull to hold the weight.

Very good guess! And you allmost hit the nail completely. The TAM is design by the same (German) team that developed the Marder, but on behalf of the Argentinian Army this time. TAM also chare the chassie with the Marder (but with necissary modifications).

Colin,
As LeoTanker pointed out, the TAM does share the basic hull of the Marder. The full size door has been replaced by a small one piece hatch (my guess about 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall), ressembling the hatch on the back of a Merk (altough IRCC the Merk has a two blade hatch). Of course the IFV, the mortar carrier and all other variants keep the big door.

Altought most of the infantry compartment of the Marder is filled with the turret basket on the TAM, there is still room for the crews rucksacks, rations, and some of the spare 105 ammo which is stored on the hull. I had a look inside a TAM during an army expo, and I ám sure you could put at least 2 jumpseats close to that hatch (altought expo vehicles may not always be equipped as line vehicles).

And you are right, with the engine at front, six roadwheels, and the somewhat pointy mantlet, the TAM does resemble vaguely a Merkava at 2/3 scale.

TAMīs do improve their "looks" with the addition of fenders (only one prototype and the Thyssen Henshel demonstrators TH-301 carry fenders).

There was a short video clip of the loader's compartment during gun firing among the clips I posted. I should have some more interior shot clips around somewhere, I'll rummage around and see what I can find.

Meanwhile, here's a pretty nice video of the Tunguska I stumbled upon at youtube:

Sure looks impressive to the yokels, all those tanks letting it rip across entire field. On the other hand, I would hate to be part of that "charge of the light brigade" if the enemy actually had comparative assets to shoot back. Smacks of either extremely rigid tactics or (more likely) good old Soviet pokazukha... dry.gif

Strange or not , M1s going pedal to the floor in 2003 looked strikingly similar.

Point is : when a brigade of tanks is coming your way , you'd better have nerves of steel irrespective of the weapon you're carrying. The massive firepower they have ( even if only spraying the LOS with MG fire ) will allow them to pierce through. What's the chance for the defender to have at least n+1 ATGMs in that area ? Or support tanks for the matter?

Well, it seems obvious to me the location and pace was chosen for show. Empty rolling field from horizon to horizon, tanks advancing in tight formation and opening up only on reaching medium range, no suppression of enemy positions, no deployment of obscurants... how is it indicative of a real thing? How many tanks would actually reach the firing line in this scenario if there was an acav squadron in a defense position? Heck, if there was a company of their own brethren defending it would have inflicted unacceptable casualties on this charge.

Russia doesnt have quantity anymore. High time to look into getting quality by other means...
