Bad news for Bumar, largest defence company in Poland, and producer of PT-91 Twardy. They will make 800 people redundant. They also claim that PT-91 is obsolete and that the only reasons for winning contract in Malaysia were climate and the need for a lighter tanks. Currently they are close to bankrupcy.

Not the best way to win contract with Peru.

Traditor traductor. Wait a moment:

Przykład to polski kontrakt w Malezji.

This means:
"We are not the one of the countries which produce the hi-end equipment on the world. We are not producers of edged military technologies. But sometimes some less innovative technologies are competitive on the world markets. Polish contract with Malaysia for example. We sell there Polish tank PT-91 Twardy, which is modernized Soviet T-72M1. We have won the competition because in Malaysian climate there is a need for the tanks which are not very heavy."

Does it not make a difference? wink.gif

The passive armor is just like that in T-72M1, plus there is second generation ERAWA-2 that is effective against tandem-warhead HEAT. The new ceramic armor for the front hull was designed in the 90ties (CAWA-2), but it was not introduced due to insufficient funds.

it is known from A. Wieshnewski's istatemants that it protected against panzerfaust - 3, but it looks rather unlikely if not impossible to me.
